| Street Scene Team The street scene team is represented at the Neighbourhood Panel. Viv Lee of the Street Scene Team has this to say about the role of the wardens: The Street Scene Team was formed in July 2009 and we cover the whole of the Horsham District Councils area. We go down as far as Steyning, out to Amberley, up as far as Rusper, Warnham and Rudgwick and out to Cowfold and Henfield. We are a small team of four and have use of a marked vehicle and two electric bikes. We are accredited by Sussex Police and that gives us Powers under The Police Reform Act 2002. They are: • Power to stop cycles when person has committed offence of riding on a footpath • Power to require the name and address of a person whom the accredited person has reason to believe has committed a relevant offence (such as causing injury, alarm or distress to any other person or the loss or damage to any persons property or a relevant fixed penalty fine). • Power to require the name and address of a person acting in an anti social manner • Power to require persons under the age of 18 to surrender alcohol and to dispose of any alcohol surrendered • Power to seize tobacco from a person aged under 16 and to dispose of it Under the Cleaner Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 we issue Fixed Penalty fines for the following; • Dog Fouling This is a £50 fine payable within 14 days. • Litter • Fly Posting • Fly tipping • Graffiti All the above attract a fine of £75 payable in fourteen days, having said that the penalty is reduced to £60 if paid within ten days. We can issue yellow warning cards which are similar to the stop forms that the PCSOs use and this in turn generates a letter home to the parents of the young person. We work closely with other partnership agencies such as the Police and PCSO’s, housing associations, Parish Councils etc. |

SPEEDING We know from attendance at Neighbourhood Panel meetings that speeding, especially in residential areas is a major concern for residents of Denne Neighbourhood. Should you wish to have a police speed enforcement unit attend a particular location in the Denne area, please contact us or PC James Munden. Not all sites are suitable or safe for the speed unit to be set up but the police will advise on that. |
